Sun, 06/21/2015 - 3:00pm
Historic Governor Gore Estate, 52 Gore St., Waltham, MA 02453
Event Description:

Mozart: From Youth to Mastery A Father’s Day Concert – June 21, 2015 at 3pm Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s father Leopold loomed large in his life, to put it mildly. Leopold was a noted violinist who published one of the most important treatises on violin playing the very year Mozart was born. He was already training his daughter Maria Anna to be a great harpsichordist when Wolfgang started trying to play her pieces. Soon he took both children on tour to showcase their talents and try to secure a job for Wolfgang in the future. This program will begin with some of Mozart’s earliest works, written when he was just a boy, and conclude with some of his last. Interspersed will be a few readings from Mozart to his father and other family members. Sylvia Berry will play a replica of the kind of piano Mozart played throughout his career. The concert will take place in the newly restored Carriage House. Tickets available at the door, or the can be purchased at berry-collective.bpt.me
