Waltham Field Station Stakeholders Raise Concerns About Their Future

Waltham Field Community Farms have played an integral role in our community by educating families on growing their own food; providing vegetables and other edibles to the Healthy Waltham organization which, in turn, educates children in the Waltham Public Schools; and, makes available garden fresh vegetables to low income families.  Currently there are concerns about the future of this land.  On February 13, 2019, a collective statement was issued by the tenants and stakeholders of this extremely important city resource:

Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy and members of the Waltham School Committee will host a fundraiser with proceeds to benefit the Waltham High School Music Department trip to Nashville, TN. A La Musica! - an evening of food, fund and musical festivities features a traditional spaghetti and meatball dinner served by the Mayor and School Committee members at the Waltham High School on March 4th. During the dinner a variety of musical selections will be performed by several WHS musical ensembles.

The Waltham Cultural Council have announced the award of 38 grants totaling $31,500 for cultural programs in Waltham.
Previous grant recipients include the Waltham Land Trust, Opportunities for Inclusion, African Cultural Services, Gore Estate, and many more. A complete list of this year’s recipients and grant amounts can be found below.

Waltham Salvation Army Corps Toy Drive Call for Toys (Updated)

The Waltham Salvation Army Corps toy drive is coming to a close and they are still in need of toys to distribute to families in need.  This year the Waltham Corps wants to make Christmas brighter for 175 children.  Currently they need toys appropriate for children from birth through 12 years old.    Any kind of toy will do, no limit on price or anything of that sorts.  You can drop off toys at the Salvation Army Waltham Corps, 33 Myrtle Street, Waltham from 9:00 am- 2:30 pm.  Cutoff is Friday, December 14.  If you have any questions, feel free to call 781-894-0413.
