WOA 2nd Annual Recovery Fest & 5K September 10th
Waltham Overcoming Addiction will present its 2nd Annual Recovery Fest on Waltham Common September 10 from 10 AM until Dusk. This year's event is held in memory of Carrie Ann Murphy and Julia Mae Raposa. At 10:30 AM there will be a Rise Up For Recovery 5K. To register for the 5K, click here. The group is organizing resources,, vendors, food, DJ, kids' activities, guest speakers and more.
State Representative Tom Stanley will open the Rise Up For Recovery 5K at 10 AM. The speaking Program will begin at noon featuring Minister Jesus Ruiz, Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy, Renay Marcue, Middlesex Sheriff Peter Koutoujian, Tracy Marie Pisano, Firefighter Mike Quinn, Luiz Diaz, Dr. Ron Shapiro, PhD., Lesha Cuttaia, Billy Allen, Gary Langis, Mike Griswalk and Tony Gonzalez of New England RAW. Music and entertainment is being provided by DJ Zinetti.
At 2 PM there will be a Narcan Training Class. Kits will be provided once the training is complete. Resources from across the Commonwealth will be present addressing all areas of substance use disorder. The group will also have a Kids' Corner which will include many activities for kids of all ages.
The group will also display a Video Vigil throughout the event in memory of those who have been lost to addiction.
